Shocking your pool regularly and properly will make your pool cleaner, and sparkling. Shocking your pool regularly will also help to prevent algae growth, and cloudy water from taking over your pool. Additionally, you will have to use less chlorine over the swimming season. We recommend shocking your pool 3-4/month.
Shock treatment helps rid your pool of organic wastes (such as suntan oils, cosmetics, and perspirations). Shocking your pool also assists its chemical friend chlorine in allowing it to do what its supposed - kill bacteria, rather than having to fight other organic wastes.
There are 3 types of Pool shock. Cal Hypo, Dichlor, and Lithium. Cal Hypo is the most common of the shock types. They generally have approximately 65% of chlorine available. Dichlor is also common, but has just 56% available chlorine and Lithium has approximately 35% available chlorine. |
