First Start is a chemical used in the pool opening process for removing harmful metal, preventing metal stains, and preventing the scaling that can occur with high levels of calcium and magnesium. Apply First Start BEFORE adding opening chlorine/shock treatments to prevent the oxidation of metals. Apply 8 oz. of First Start per every 10,000 gallons of pool water. Apply after filling pool or whenever adding more than 6" of new water. For well water, or water high in minerals/metals, double the dosage for best results.
